Getting "Lost" in Tübingen

Getting "Lost" in Tübingen

On the morning of my departure I wanted to get a run in and combine it with finding the bus stop I’d be using later as well as checking out the famous Tübingen bridge. For some reason my phone’s GPS didn’t work unless I was connected to wifi, so I looked up the route to the bus stop before leaving the house and figured out the general direction to the bridge from there.

But after successfully making it to the bus stop, I realized that there were at least four possible roads that could take me to the bridge, as the intersection has eight roads coming from it. (Old city.) Fortunately I noticed a bookstore with postcards out front, and even more fortunately, one of the postcards was a city map!

Referring to the postcard, I picked the correct road to the bridge and then continued to use it to run down the island in the city’s main river, the Neckar. At this point the postcard cut off, so I took a little gamble that I could make my way until I the map picked up the route again. What’s life without a little challenge?

My proudest moment of my petit adventure was when I figured out that, yes, I should go down this deserted, long, dark tunnel, by seeing it’s tiny little entrance at the bottom corner of the map.

It was a fun little excursion. A bit of exercise—both physical and mental—and I got to see much of the city. I wonder what people thought when they saw a runner going by, clutching a postcard?
